Settled at Jamestown VA 1620. Direct descendent of Baron Hugh (Roger)
De Rennes of Rennes (Brittany), France who invaded England with William
the Conqueror 1066. Became a Duke and held lands today known as Raynes

Enlisted Jan 23 1776 as a private, served under Capt. Campbell and
Capt. John Steeds Company in 8th VA Reg. commanded by Col. Abraham
Bowman. Transferred Jun 1778 to Capt. Kirkpatrick's Co. of 4th VA
Reg., commanded at various times by Col. James Wood and Col. John
Neville. First engaged in battle with Indians at Point Pleasant,

Pension: VA No. 749 No. S 5969. Enlisted 1777 or 78, served three
years as a private in the company commanded by Captain Gillison of
the 10th Virginia Line under Colonel Green. Took part in battles
of Monmouth, West Point, White Plaines, Yorktown. Received pension
while living in Lewis Co, VA 1832. Supporting data from Elizabeth
Lacy, as sister, Adam Rouse, and Thomas Bland. Pension seems to
have been temporarily suspended, but resumed 1836.
